Woof! (Welcome) You’ve reached Doghouse Bikes, a small & quaint purveyor of bicycles, accessories, clothing, and related items.

 
The Doghouse started in a farrowing house that was in the process of falling down. A shed size section was salvaged and we added a wood stove, some bike hooks and a pool table. In the shed, bikes were tinkered with, the wood stove was stoked and the pool table rounded out the escape. When frustrations built up, the shed became the place to go. One day, after several escapes, the comment was made, "Gotta go out to the doghouse!" The name stuck. Rides started and ended there. Bikes were fixed and tinkered with and many social gatherings occurred at the "Doghouse". 

Then it happened – the local bike shop closed. Its manager urged us to get into the business. He helped us acquire the basics to get a shop going. Excited on one paw and scared on the other, we jumped in on all fours. Step one was to work out of our home. We built a new Doghouse with the help of many friends. That building became a warehouse when we rented a storefront on the square in Indianola, Iowa. Our business has grown and we are now in our own 3,000+ square foot building located at the new Summerset trailhead (an 11 mile trail from Indianola to Carlisle).

Our primary bike lines are Fuji, known for quality products since 1899 and Jamis, which has rated well in many buyers’ guides for its quality frames and components at a reasonable cost. We carry a sampling of bicycles from KHS. We have also developed relationships with specialty manufactures such as Cervelo, Co-Motion and Moots. We carry recumbent bicycles from Burley.

Our BMX involvement has grown with the building of a NBL BMX track in Des Moines. We are the Official Bike Shop of Des Moines Metro BMX. At present, our BMX lines are Redline and Free Agent and S & M and Standard frames.

We are a sponsor to various bike clubs in the area as well as the DMOS/DMCC race team. We also sponsor a Team NBL BMX Race Team called "Doghouse Racing" Please look at the BMX page for further information about BMX racing.

Ordering

We accept Visa, Mastercard, checks, and money orders.  Please don’t send cash.  Make checks and money orders out to Doghouse Bikes.  Orders paid by check will be held for two weeks to ensure your check clears the bank.  Our secure ordering server will ensure that your credit card information is kept in confidence. 

We will make every effort to ship in-stock items promptly.  If there is any problem with your order, you will be notified by email.  Your credit card will not be billed until your order is ready to be shipped.

Returns

All returns must be authorized to receive proper credit, and must be in resaleable condition.  All claims must be submitted within thirty (30) days of receipt of merchandise.  Email returns@doghousebikes.com or call (515) 961-5859 to get your authorization number.  A 15% restocking fee will be apply to all returned items without an authorization number or after 30 days.
